Mrs Mortier presents her Compliments to Mrs Washington has been Informed that some Intercepted Letters mention her being indisposed and that she finds a difficulty in procuring some Necessary Articles for her recovery. Mrs M: has taken the liberty to send her such as this place affords, by means of a flag of truce, which she had procured for that purpose, & begs leave to offer Mrs W: any other Assistance her situation may require -

Dr. Madam,- The Jeweller promises me to have the bracelets done in a few days. I have begged him to take the utmost pains to set them neatly ... As no foreign glasses were to be had, I have moulded some of the best glass I could find and got a Lapidary to polish them; which, I hope will not be inferior to those made abroad. I have cut the Pictures to one size, and mean to go a little further than you are pleased to direct - That is to have spare loopholes for occasional use as a Locket, and the additional expense in inconsiderable.

I send my miniature pictures to you and request the favor of you to get them set for me - I would have them for Braceletts to wear round the wrists - the picture already set I beg you to have cut the same size as the other two and set as I may make a pair of either of the three pictures - the dimonds may be set in a pin for the hair - I would have the three pictures set exactly alike - and all the same size - if you have no crystals your self if they can be had in the city I beg you to get them for me - I would like to have them set neat and plain - and will be much obliged to you to hurry the person that undertakes the doing of them as I am very anxious to get them soon -

Dear Sir                                            Mount Vernon July the 18th 1780

When yours and my dear Fannys letters came to my hands - I was in expectation of leving Camp every week - I left the General about the Middle of June - the last I heard from him he was going up the North river - I got home on Fryday and find myself so much fatique with my ride that I shall not be able to come down to see you this summer and must request you to bring Fanny up - as soon as you can - I suffered so much last winter by going late that I have determined to go early in the fall before the Frost set in - if Fanny does not come soon she will have but a short time to stay with me - we were sorry that we did not see you at the Camp - there was not much pleasure thar the distress of the army and other difficultys thro I did not know the cause, the pore General was so unhappy that it distressed me exceedingly

I shall hope to see you soon after the assembly rises, with Fanny - please to give my love to her and the Boys who I should be very glad to see with you - my compliments to Mrs Dangerfield Mr & Mrs Davis and all Friends - I am dr Sir your affectionate friend & hmble sert

Dear Brother                                                     November the 2d 1778

I received your kind favor by Mr. Posey and should have wrote to you long before this but have everyday expected everyday Jack would be ready to set out, I am very sorry to hear that my Mamma has been so unwell and thank god that she has recovered again -- I wish I was near enough to come to see you and her. I am very uneasy at this time - I have some reason to expect that I shall take another trip to the northward. The pore General is not likely to come to see us from what I can hear - I expect to hear seertainly by the next post - if I doe I shall write to you to inform you and my friends-if I am so happy to stay at home. I shall hope to see you with my sister hear as soon as you are at leasure. Please to give little Patty a Kiss for me I have sent her a pair of shoes-there was not a Doll to be got in the city of Philadelphia or I would have sent her one (the shoes are in a bundle for my mama).

I am very glad to hear that you and your family are well - Jack can tell you more news than I can. I have had no letter since he came from the camp - by some [illegible] of the postmasters my letters doe [not] come regularly to hand.

I am with my Duty to my mamma my Love to my sister Aylett my sister and Family my Dear Brother

My Long Letter last Post has left me very little to say this Post. I have however the Pleasure to inform you that we continue well. poor little Pat has been innoculated three Times, and has not taken the Infection. this leaves Us in a very disagreable Suspence, as We shall be very uneasy lest She should get the Disorder in the natural Way, the Doctor is much at a loss how to account for her not taking the Infection, unless Nelly was with child when she was innoculated, and this can hardly be the Case. I shall wait some Time before I try a fourth time. I sincerely hope no Accident will happen to the dear Child. She has grown the finest Girl I ever saw and the most Good natured Quiet little Creature in the World. You took the advantage of Me to ask for her just after my Disappointment. I do not know how to comply for I could not have loved It better if It had been a Boy. Ms Bet has grown very much, and is very saucy and entertaining. She can say any Word but Washington.

I left Mt Vernon last Tuesday all the Family were well. the only news I heard were the Deaths of Nancy whiteing & Miss Sally Fairfax, the Former died in childbed - I should have sett off this Day Eltham but the Wind blows so hard I can't cross the River. The Election comes the ninth which oblidged me to make all the Haste in my Power, you must remember to set cross leg'd that Day for me. - I must beg of you to write Me every Week, and be sure to send Me all the news while you stay at Camp, if you are too much ingaged, see that Gibbs and Mead, I know they are generally idle -write you can now and then inclose a newspaper when there is any thing Particular in them, you will please to take Care of Doctor Craiks Letter. I was at a Loss where to direct to him. My Affecte Regards to the General. I would have Wrote to Him, but the Want of some thing Agreable to communicate prevented me. I will do myself the Pleasure to write him from Belop and inform him of all the News there. I return Him many Thanks for his Letter of the 1st of which got to my Hands on Tuesday last. My Compts to the Gentlemen - Nelly joins in Love to the Genl and Self and in wishing for your every Happiness
