Text
In Obedience to the Order of this Honable Court made the 28th of Apl in the present year We have stated a General Account of the Estate of the said Danl Parke Custis Esqr deceasd from the several Inventories thereof & having compared the same with the Sales of the Estate as carefully as we were able it being impossible to do the same with Exactness by reason of the many Lumping Articles in the said Inventories We discovered several Errors on both sides the Account but the same being equal within 50 s which is to the prejudice of George Washington Esqr. We with his Consent to prevent stating the whole account over again have agreed to report the Account marked hereto annexed as the General Account of the said Estate. We have also with the Schedule hereunto annexed marked C Stated the separate accounts of the said George Washington in right of himself & of John & Martha the two Children of the said Daniel Parke Custis according to the Division of the Estate made between them which in or Opinion is the fairest & most equal Division thereof that could be made as the Accounts have been so itemized that it would be impossible to distinguish the several Articles with any Certainty
In obedience to the Order of the Genl Court made the 28th of April in the year 1759 we have allotted & assigned to Mrs Martha Washington her dower in the land and Slaves of her late husbd D.P.C. as will appear by a schedule hereunto annexed & marked As has been also stated.
